Problem & Partnership
The International Olympic Committee chose Polyform to reimagine the Youth Olympic Games in AR for audiences aged 15–18. Partnering with XR Media Group, Intel drone teams, and the IOC, we captured venues in full 3D using photogrammetry and AI‑powered post‑processing. Our mission was to create a digital twin of real-world Olympic locations that felt immersive and accessible.
During discovery we tackled how to make AR onboarding intuitive for large audiences, incorporate the official mascot Yodli, and surface layered content including live results, athlete stats, and social media. The goal was to translate Olympic excitement into a seamless home-based AR experience.
Project Description
In design we built a platform that allowed users to place virtual venues—like Les Tuffes and Lausanne—into their own space. Live 360° and 2D video from ongoing events, real-time athlete stats, and synchronized replays were mapped to the model, enabling viewers to watch the action from unique perspectives.
Our team developed interaction models that layered broadcast data, social commentary, and content controlled by the IOC—all presented in AR. The result was an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Digital Innovation in Sports, underscoring the quality and impact of the experience.
